Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for supporting the organization's multi-location HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll processing, and compliance with labor laws and regulations. The manager will also provide exceptional support to employees, managers, and shareholders. Great Lakes Power, Inc. is a leader in power transmission products and services for heavy-duty marine and off-highway applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist supervisors in the recruitment of new applicants through online resources.
  • Establish relationships with local trade schools to provide a pipeline of employment for technical positions.
  • Execute employment interviews and follow up on new applicants when required.
  • Set up pre-employment background checks and drug screens.
  • Complete the onboarding process of new hires.
  • Process enrollment of benefits for employees to include 401K, medical, dental, vision, FSA, disability, and life insurance.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for multi-locations through Paychex Payroll Service.
  • Accurately process garnishment, child, and medical support notices.
  • Process employee disability paperwork and FMLA when required.
  • Initiate the yearly performance and compensation review process.
  • Investigate employee work-related injuries and maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs.
  • Accurately process workers' compensation claims by working with the state of Ohio and the company's business insurer for non-state-run workers' compensation.
  • Lead conflict management resolution between employees when needed.
  • Assist managers with employee disciplinary and HR investigation matters.
  • Assist managers with the employee termination process, including termination paperwork.
  • Enforce, maintain, and continually update the employee handbook and policy manual.
  • Collaborate with the 401k third-party administrator and company auditor to perform yearly compliance testing and audit.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and healthcare broker on the yearly renewal process for company healthcare benefits.
  • Communicate between department managers and shareholders to make sound HR recommendations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources (preferred), Business Management, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Human Resources with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Some accounting knowledge is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office 365.
