Position Overview

The Nutritional Assistance Program Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of the food pantry, ensuring that community members experiencing food scarcity receive the necessary support, including food, resource referrals, and vital information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Engagement: Deliver food assistance to community members in need, ensuring a respectful and dignified experience. This includes welcoming guests, adhering to intake protocols, and assisting clients during their shopping experience. Conduct interviews and register clients for pantry services.
  • Inventory Management: Place orders with suppliers and grocery donors, as well as procure food and non-food items from local retailers as necessary.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and supervise food pantry volunteers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Donation Oversight: Ensure proper handling of donations and enforce policies to prevent loss.
  • Logistics Coordination: Organize food pick-ups and deliveries efficiently.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records and metrics related to donations and services provided, ensuring compliance with government agency requirements and guidelines for document retention.
  • Inventory Tracking: Monitor and update food and supply inventory, making recommendations for regularly stocked items and identifying trends.
  • Operational Support: Stock shelves, manage pantry items, and implement effective policies and procedures for pantry operations.
  • Community Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local donors, volunteers, and organizational leadership.
  • Service Improvement: Generate innovative ideas and suggest enhancements to better serve community members.
  • Resource Referral: Provide information and referrals to additional social services that may benefit clients, including other offerings from the East End Cooperative Ministry.
  • Cultural Competency: Demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diverse populations.
Qualifications:

Salary: $35,000

  • Experience in cultural awareness training and working with diverse populations.
  • Preferred background in non-profit or community service organizations.
  • Bilingual skills are advantageous.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree along with experience in food pantry or kitchen management is preferred.
  • Clearances as per Act 33 and 34 are mandatory.
  • Must possess a reliable, insured vehicle and a valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years.
