Sports Dietitian Fellow Job Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Sports Dietitian Fellow to assist with the nutrition needs of the Men's Football team and support the Sports Dietitian in enhancing the sports nutrition program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with nutrition needs for the Men's Football team, including nutrition education and counseling, body composition assessment and interpretation, travel nutrition, pre-/post practice and game nutrition, fueling station operations, hydration and Gatorade sweat testing, nutrition inventory maintenance, cooking demos, grocery store tours, etc.
  • Oversee the following nutrition needs for the Men's Football team: development and execution of in-season nutrition education series for freshman, maintenance of hydration intervention table for high-risk athletes, nutrition inventory management, pre/during/post practice needs for one position group throughout the season.
  • Communicate and work with Steelers Executive Chef and kitchen staff to coordinate training table menus and ordering nutrition products.
  • Assist with management of all football fueling stations, including assisting with training undergraduate and graduate volunteers.
  • Assist in development and continuous improvement of nutrition education materials and resources.
  • Perform various administrative duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the sports nutrition staff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition or related field.
  • Registered Dietitian or RD eligible.
  • At least six months of experience in sports nutrition at the collegiate or professional level.
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours or work week, including early morning, nights or holidays.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
