Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner II Registered, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in various areas of the hospital, including the intensive care unit and during transport. You will work under the supervision of a physician and be expected to exercise independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Selects, reviews, obtains, and interprets data to formulate a goal-directed plan of care.
  • Performs diagnostic modalities, including ABG sampling and analysis, co-oximetry, spirometry, and pressure-volume and flow-volume loops.
  • Selects, assembles, and checks equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness.
  • Initiates, conducts, and modifies prescribed therapeutic or diagnostic procedures, including mechanical ventilation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Documents all required information in the medical record according to departmental policy and procedure.
Requirements:
  • At least three years of recent experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Graduate from a respiratory care education program supported by CoARC or accredited by CAAHEP, with 62 semester hours of college credit, including a background in the basic sciences.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California) from National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist by the National Board preferred.
  • At least one year of recent critical care experience.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in neonatal/pediatric respiratory care.
