Position Overview
The Vehicle Systems Division (VSD) leads the charge in research and development, specializing in vehicle engineering, robotics, fluid dynamics, propulsion, orbital mechanics, and more. The Engineering Specialist/Senior Engineering Specialist - Multi-Disciplinary Engineering role within the Vehicle Engineering Department is focused on supporting spacecraft initiatives, project oversight, and spacecraft hardware engineering, particularly concerning vehicle interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver spacecraft engineering assistance for AI&T, project oversight, and spacecraft engineering
- Oversee multidisciplinary acquisition, design, and testing processes for space vehicles
- Identify and address satellite and subsystem risks and challenges
- Coordinate Vehicle Engineering's support to East Coast Labs and Vehicle Autonomy Lab
- Contribute to business development and expansion of the customer base
- Build strong relationships with clients and contractors
Qualifications for Success
- A Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline is mandatory
- A minimum of eight years of professional experience in mechanical design, spacecraft engineering, or related areas
- Proven track record in systems engineering and project management
- Experience in leading small teams and coordinating technical efforts
- Strategic thinking and results-oriented mindset
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is essential
Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree in a STEM field is advantageous
- Experience in electrical integration and testing, power systems, or test hardware/software is beneficial
- Familiarity with satellite testing standards and government space acquisition policies is a plus
