POSITION SUMMARY
Title: Chef
Reports To: Kitchen Manager
Schedule: Monday - Tuesday & Friday - Sunday
Compensation: $22.23/hour
Classification: Hourly, Non-exempt, 40 Hours/Week
Union Representation: This role is represented by the AFSCME Local 999.
The Chef is tasked with preparing and delivering high-quality lunch and dinner services, ensuring a superior standard of fresh food during client serving hours. Responsibilities include a diverse range of food preparation tasks in the kitchen daily, along with full accountability for the lunch and dinner shifts. It is essential to implement all policies and procedures established by management. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
PRIMARY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS
- Oversee meal service, ensuring guests enjoy a delightful and memorable dining experience.
- Prepare and manage meal service operations.
- Set up and clean the kitchen post-lunch and dinner services.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times.
- Ensure all food stocks are stored under optimal conditions.
- Prepare dishes according to specified recipes and quantities.
- Operate the department in compliance with relevant legislation, maintaining accurate records.
- Communicate any anticipated issues promptly to the Kitchen Manager.
- Ensure fair and courteous treatment of all staff under your supervision.
- Meet personal grooming and appearance standards related to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies and regulations.
- Possess a solid understanding of health and safety, hygiene, equal opportunities, HIPAA, and other relevant legislation.
- Remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves heavy work, requiring continuous standing and movement. Occasionally, it may involve exerting up to 100 pounds of force, frequently up to 50 pounds, and constantly up to 20 pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Chef or Cook.
- Certification as a Food Handler with the MN Department of Health is preferred.
- A passion for cooking and delivering high-quality meals.
- Excellent time management abilities.
- Ability to remain composed while managing multiple tasks.
- Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment.
- Current knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes.
- Must pass a background check with the Department of Human Services.
- Ability to comply with MN Department of Health regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Capability to lift 10-40 lbs, and 50+ lbs with assistance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Personal experience with homelessness.
- Fluency in languages spoken by our clients (Spanish, Amharic, Oromo, Somali, ASL).
REFERRAL BONUS PROGRAM
