Job Summary:

As a Product Design Engineer at Metalcraft of Mayville, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating technical engineering activities to ensure project completion within budget and schedule. You will work on product development projects from concept to production, designing and developing new products and improving existing ones.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new products and improve existing ones, considering project team direction, product industry trends, user experience, and safety and environmental standards.
  • Create and modify engineering designs, 3-D CAD models, and drawings.
  • Analyze and optimize product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure successful implementation and launch of new product introductions.
  • Collaborate with assembly and quality control teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Manage Engineering Change requests and assist other departments in preparation of manuals and sales materials.


Requirements:

We are looking for an excellent communicator with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering and design experience. You should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in product design, with experience in development of off-road mobile equipment preferred.

  • CAD drafting/modeling proficiency, Pro-E/Creo preferred.
  • Finite Element Analysis experience preferred.
  • Bill of Material construction.
  • Ability to coordinate workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of vehicle sub-systems, including chassis, suspension, drive train, brakes, exterior and interior systems, payload capacity, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, weldments, machined parts, structural system design, hydraulic systems, control systems, electrical systems is a plus.
  • Component selection and supplier communication.
  • ERP system data entry and analysis, SAP preferred.
