About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic counter sales representative to become part of our team. The Counter Sales Associate will be responsible for engaging with customers, processing orders, and preparing items for shipment in an efficient manner. This role requires a high-energy individual who is a collaborative team player and can maintain focus throughout the workday. Additionally, the candidate must be adept at managing customer interactions both in person and over the phone.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting products that meet their needs.
- Accurately process all orders as they are received, ensuring all details are correct (specifications, processing requirements, shipping, and handling).
- Consider all relevant cost factors when creating quotes to ensure profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels to assess material availability and anticipate potential issues with excess or aged stock.
- Advocate for customers in interactions with departments such as Credit, Operations, Shipping, and Purchasing.
- Understand the expected gross margin performance for your accounts.
- Regularly review account profitability and identify opportunities for improvement (pricing, product mix, processing setups, freight).
- Address customer complaints and concerns, ensuring resolutions are satisfactory for both the customer and the company.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong verbal communication skills for one-on-one interactions.
- Previous experience in customer service, preferably in the steel industry, with well-developed customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and telephone sales abilities.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Stelplan is a plus.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to interpret customer needs.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Good organizational skills.
