Position Overview

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting a dynamic sector within the organization by spearheading the design, development, and testing of advanced optical technologies aimed at optimizing the size, weight, power consumption, and cost of satellite optical payloads while enhancing overall performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize your expertise in optical design and emerging optical technologies to conduct comprehensive analyses focused on performance metrics, including size, weight, and power efficiency for satellite optical payloads.
  • Employ advanced modeling tools to gain insights into the co-design of various optical technologies within a unified optical payload.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with optical design teams to assess and refine optical technologies, establishing a pathway for their transition into production and integration.
  • Formulate a strategic roadmap for innovative imaging technologies applicable to future aerospace systems, while exploring early-stage concepts.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 10 years of experience; or a Doctorate with 8 years of experience.
  • Must possess U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Proven expertise in evaluating the performance of optical components, including point spread functions (PSFs) and modulation transfer functions (MTFs).
  • Experience with finite element analysis tools such as COMSOL, CST, or Lumerical.
  • Proficient in optical design software such as Zemax or CODE V.
  • Strong command of Windows operating systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients and deliver impactful results.
  • Goal-oriented with a proven track record of guiding teams towards successful project outcomes.
  • Skilled in technical writing, documentation, and organizational practices.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to independent work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active TS or TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience in the development of hybrid optical systems incorporating novel optical components.
  • Background in the fabrication and characterization of optical systems, including diffractive and meta-optics.
  • Experience in business development and proposal writing.
