About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team at Quanex. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on production equipment to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and support systems to minimize downtime.
  • Work Order Management: Use work orders to determine job priorities and document work activities using our CMMS system.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work directly with maintenance colleagues and indirectly with production supervisors to complete maintenance-related activities.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform and monitor preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing and facility equipment to ensure high reliability and low life cycle costs.
  • Equipment Installation and Relocation: Assist in completing equipment installation, relocation, and fabrication projects, coordinating with contractors to ensure timely and budget-friendly completion.
  • Maintenance of Building Facilities and Grounds: Assist in maintaining building facilities and grounds, including cleaning and organizing maintenance shop, office, and storage areas.
  • Training and Technical Assistance: Train machine operators in preventive maintenance procedures and minor repair techniques, providing technical assistance to production personnel as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow and monitor safety rules and procedures, acting as a safety advocate and reporting any safety/OSHA deficiencies to the Maintenance Manager.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: 2-year technical college degree or equivalent in a related field, with 2 years of related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical ability, knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, electrical systems knowledge and repair.
  • Communication and Computer Skills: Strong verbal, written, and oral communication skills, with computer literacy.
  • Safety and Environmental Knowledge: Knowledge of safety and environmental practices, regulations, and procedures, with certification in First Aid/CPR/AED.
