Role Summary
As a Patient Care Technician II, you will provide essential patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
  • Deliver routine treatments while ensuring a safe, clean, and organized patient environment.
  • Maintain the safety and security of patients, families, yourself, and fellow healthcare team members.
  • Ensure patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality are upheld.
  • Adhere to standard precautions, including hand hygiene between patient interactions.
  • Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
  • Measure and document vital signs and other relevant patient information as directed.
  • Communicate pertinent patient information and safety concerns to the RN and other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in handoff reports and conduct purposeful hourly rounding of patients.
  • Provide exceptional service and care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
  • Demonstrate competency in specific tasks and skills as outlined by Orlando Health and unit-specific standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe nursing unit.
  • Handle incoming calls, patient call lights, and guest requests efficiently.
  • Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility.
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies.
  • Comply with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support and engage in planned changes enthusiastically.
  • Participate in nursing performance improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Stay informed about legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Utilize time and resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Complete all mandatory training programs.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on developmental principles.
  • Assess and interpret data reflective of the patient's status, identifying age-specific needs.
Qualifications

Education/Training
High school diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of experience as a nursing assistant within the past five years, or completion of an approved nursing assistant program, or certification as a Nursing Assistant in Florida, or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Florida, or graduation from an accredited nursing school, or experience as a Medical Corpsman, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic.

Licensure/Certification
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required.

Experience
One (1) year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting within the past five years is preferred. Recent graduates of approved nursing programs or other training may be exempt from this requirement.
