About the Job

Waste Management is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Operations Manager to oversee the management of our fleet of primary and secondary equipment within the assigned area. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our vehicles, as well as maintaining high training and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment within the assigned area, in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Review capital equipment requisitions in line with Corporate guidelines and objectives.
  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Manage effective utilization of vehicle assets.
  • Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
  • Ensure vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in budget process as required.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Conduct and/or attend and contribute to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
  • Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 5 or seven (7) years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
  • Valid drivers license required.
