Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Library Specialist to join our team at Glendale Community College. As a key member of the Access Services department, you will provide exceptional customer service and technical support to our library community, working closely with librarians to support the GCC Library Reimagine MakerSpace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service and technical support to library patrons at the circulation desk, utilizing an integrated library system to troubleshoot library technology and assist with locating library materials.
  • Assist students and staff in utilizing the technology of the GCC Library Reimagine Makerspace, including 3D printing, assisting with student projects, resolving equipment issues, and inventory and organization.
  • Process, track, and inventory library Reserve materials utilizing an integrated library system, Google Suite, and MS Access Database, working with librarians and faculty to produce online access for students via LibGuides.
  • Help plan and participate in special projects, social media, and outreach programs, order equipment and office supplies, serve on college/district committees, pursue professional growth, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of experience in library support services, such as library information resources, circulation services, and equipment coordination.
  • Equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in a library environment, performing various access services tasks, such as circulation services, collection maintenance, or reserves.
  • One or more years of experience in a college or academic environment assisting students.
  • Six months or more experience in a makerspace or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience using various makerspace technology and equipment, such as 3D printers & scanners, engravers, VR equipment, Arduino/pi, design software, etc.
  • Experience using technology such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, various internet browsers, and/or office technology (such as printers/copiers, scanners).
