We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our team as a Senior Insurance Defense Attorney. As a member of our Corporate Law Division, you will be responsible for delivering legal services in an objective and unbiased manner, in accordance with the attorneys' ethical and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities- Handle cases involving claims with high financial exposure and complexity, including cases involving complex medical issues, catastrophic injuries, or sensationalized accident facts.
- Conduct depositions and present expert testimony in a skilled and effective manner.
- Work autonomously with little supervision and align with management as a partner in decision-making.
- Prepare detailed and concise reports on complicated cases, reflecting in-depth analysis and proposed strategy for further handling.
- Assist in the supervision and development of assigned support staff, mentor other attorneys, and serve as a resource person on varied and complex legal issues and administrative matters.
- 5+ years of personal injury experience is preferred.
- Insurance Defense background is preferred.
- Jury Trial experience is preferred.
- Arbitration, deposition, discovery experience is ideal.
- Must be able to handle an inventory of 70+ files.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational and technology skills.
- J.D. from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School, in the top half of graduating class, and an active member in good standing of the Bar in the state of operation.
- Must have an active law license to practice in Pennsylvania and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Pennsylvania.
- Other than authorized and pro bono work, incumbents are not permitted to handle any legal business outside of the Company, and candidates must cease all outside practice and all suit involvement before joining State Farm.
- Must successfully complete orientation and training program as designated by the Managing Attorney or the Law Department.
