Position Summary

The role entails overseeing the monthly financial closing activities, which include the preparation of billing for third-party contracts, invoicing for childcare services, monthly journal entries, and the reconciliation of general ledger accounts. This position also involves supervising the Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerk, while assisting the CFO with the annual budget preparation, audit schedules, auditor requests, and state financial statements, along with various special projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily remote deposits and maintain cash flow records, ensuring that clearing account balances are accurate.
  • Supervise weekly accounts payable check runs, ensuring accuracy prior to disbursement.
  • Import payroll data into the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly billing for third-party contracts.
  • Oversee the Staff Accountant in the preparation of childcare contract invoices.
  • Ensure timely preparation of invoices for additional services by the Staff Accountant.
  • Record and prepare monthly closing entries.
  • Document monthly membership income and electronic funds transfer payments.
  • Supervise the monthly reconciliation of bank accounts conducted by the Staff Accountant.
  • Investigate and resolve inquiries related to general ledger transactions.
  • Compile and analyze monthly financial statements and reports for the CFO, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Distribute monthly financial reports to department heads.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable, accounts payable, clearing accounts, and accrued expenses, along with quarterly reconciliations of all other balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare weekly billing for childcare services and transitional housing programs.
  • Oversee daily posting of payments related to childcare and transitional housing.
  • Assist in maintaining the childcare billing system and addressing parent account inquiries.
  • Support the CFO with contract modifications as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation for monthly Finance Committee meetings.
  • Contribute to the annual operating budget preparation alongside the CFO.
  • Facilitate the annual independent audit by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation to auditors promptly.
  • Complete quarterly closings for two affiliated companies and prepare for independent auditor reviews.
  • Review scholarship applications from wellness and health equity departments.
  • Cross-train to perform the duties of the Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerk when needed.
  • Provide support at the front desk as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred management or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably Accufund.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
