The Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University is dedicated to improving the mental health of individuals and families through clinical care, research, education, and public awareness. Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified research-focused candidate to join our Child and Adolescent Psychology Division as a senior faculty member. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research and research-related activities, with a primary focus on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivorship. This includes identifying factors related to the development of patients transitioning off active cancer treatment and developing culturally relevant interventions to optimize survivorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and research-related activities in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivorship
- Develop and implement culturally relevant interventions to optimize survivorship
- Teach and supervise students and trainees within multiple programs
- Lead the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based treatments
- Engage in other scholarly activities, including publishing research findings and presenting at scientific meetings
Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent with training in clinical psychology
- Research interest and extensive experience focused on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivorship
- A clear research agenda and potential for external funding
- A track record of accepted peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and/or conference presentations
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated experience working in a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive history of federally funded research and grant submissions
- Experience as a clinical supervisor and/or teacher/mentor
- Virginia licensed or eligible as a clinical psychologist
- Significant experience in providing evidence-based research and clinical studies involving pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivorship, health care disparities, and intervention development
