As a Technician I, you will work under the direct supervision of the Site Head and general guidance of senior staff to perform animal care and maintenance procedures according to company policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and study protocols.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing feed, water, and enrichment to animals
  • Cleaning and sanitizing cages and enclosures
  • Assisting with the set-up, receipt, and unpack of animal shipments and supplies according to SOPs and study protocols
  • Operating and maintaining equipment, including autoclaves, cage washers, and Class II BSCs
  • Performing cage wash and rack wash procedures, preparing, sanitizing, and distributing cages, enclosures, and supplies
  • Sanitizing assigned areas and equipment according to SOPs
  • Observing, recording, and reporting atypical findings to veterinary staff and senior personnel
  • Performing tasks or procedures according to company policies, guidelines, and SOPs
  • Complying with all regulatory guidelines, occupational health, and health and safety programs

As a Technician II, you will have 2 years of laboratory animal science experience and will assist in performing aspects of a study cycle for grant, internal, and/or contract research studies, including verifying drugs/agents prior to use, calculating dose administrations, and assisting with dosing, blood collection, and/or data collection.

Requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or AS Degree in Science (or equivalent degree) preferred
  • FOR THE TECHNICIAN II: 2 years of laboratory animal science experience

Manual dexterity is required to operate facility equipment, and visual acuity is required to handle potentially hazardous chemicals, cleaners, biologics, and/or sharps.

Biological safety level (BSL) 1 and 2 laboratory and vivarium settings are required.

Standard workday is variable, but typically 7a-4p daily, with overtime may be required per business needs.
