About the Role

iMedX, a RapidCare Group company, is seeking an experienced Inpatient Facility Coder to join our team. As a Facility Coder, you will work on behalf of facilities, utilizing your expertise in DRG-based reimbursement for inpatient coding.

This is a remote (work-from-home) position that offers full-time, part-time, and independent contractor status. We require a minimum of 3 years of broad-based acute care inpatient coding experience and relevant credentials to demonstrate compliance with this requirement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Abstract relevant clinical information from health records and assign accurate and complete codes in accordance with Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and iMedX standards.
  2. Identify principal and secondary diagnoses based on OGCR and assign ICD-10-CM codes.
  3. Assign ICD-10-PCS codes for procedures based on OGCR.
  4. Possess thorough understanding of the impact of DRG-based reimbursement on inpatient coding.
  5. Able to identify instances where a physician query is necessary for accurate code assignment and compose required objective queries.
  6. Exhibit familiarity with facility data systems such as EPIC, Cerner, MediTech, and CPSI.
  7. Exhibit working knowledge and familiarity with encoders such as 3M and TruCODE.
  8. Meet or exceed iMedX coding quality standards.
  9. Understand and adhere to all requirements related to coding compliance.
  10. Perform coding in an efficient and productive manner, utilizing good time management and professional work habits.
  11. Refers coding questions to the Coding Manager in a timely manner for feedback and coding guideline development.
  12. Continually enhance coding skills and participate in team meetings and educational conferences to ensure coding practice remains current.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and safeguard the privacy of protected health information (PHI).
  14. Promote the Company's values.
  15. Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned or required.
Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a formal coding program. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or other AHIMA or AAPC approved coding credential preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years' coding work experience and working knowledge of the ICD coding system; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; and health record content.

Exhibits a sense of urgency towards work, possesses intermediate level computer skills, attention to detail, excellent customer service, and written and verbal communication skills.
