Engineering Director for Multifamily Properties

At Cushman & Wakefield, we are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our multifamily property team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction to ensure the efficient operation of our properties.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned professional with expertise in commercial property management, engineering, and building systems. Your role will involve overseeing the implementation of our national engineering platform, developing and implementing technical programs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team, setting up a local leadership team to assist with the implementation of our national platform
- Coordinate quarterly engineering meetings, provide training materials, and ensure compliance with industry requirements
- Assist in the development and implementation of technical programs, policies, and procedures as required by National Operations and Engineering
- Work with Property Managers and Chief Engineers to implement safety, quality assurance, sustainability, energy management, and other requirements
- Develop and deliver property-specific technical training for on-site engineering personnel
- Establish and maintain a network of consultants and pre-qualified service providers for assistance and expertise beyond operations staff capabilities
- Participate in scope definition, contract negotiations, and bid reviews for service and capital replacement projects
- Provide direction and consultation to operating staff on HVAC, MEP systems, Fire & Life Safety systems, Automation, Security, and OSHA compliance
- Evaluate and ensure compliance with our web-based training platform
- Assist with RFPs, new business presentations, account transitions, and site assessments
- Lead the implementation of corporate initiatives and conduct physical property, mechanical, electrical, and system assessments as needed
- Conduct limited site inspections in accordance with our national engineering platform guidelines
- Recruit candidates and maintain a database of qualified professionals for potential opportunities
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of commercial property experience
- Minimum 3 years of management-level experience in facilities/property maintenance, engineering, building systems, project management, and supervision of skilled trades and technical staff
- Experience in building operations, unionized and non-unionized employees, and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Operating Engineers License (as required by local jurisdictions)
- Technical proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and control systems used in property management
- Expertise in property operations, cost controls, and knowledge of applicable commercial building codes and standards
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, and BAS SOO
- Strong understanding of project management processes and basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word
Estimated Salary Range: $171,700 - $202,000 per year, based on qualifications and location.
