Position Overview
The Nutrition Specialist will leverage their knowledge in dietary science, nutrition, and culinary practices to design and execute nutritional initiatives aimed at enhancing health and wellness within the community. This role involves providing nutritional guidance for dining services, offering personalized counseling, and creating educational materials to promote nutrition awareness through various outreach activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-site assistance and engage with students and guests who have specific dietary requirements. Develop recipes that adhere to established nutritional standards and ingredient specifications. Provide detailed notes and supplementary information to accompany recipes. Evaluate menus and meal plans to ensure compliance with nutritional guidelines. Edit content related to recipes, including nutrient analyses and accompanying texts. Contribute to the development of recipes and marketing materials for the food industry (e.g., brochures, websites). Provide culinary and nutritional education. Share health-focused nutrition information with both professional and consumer audiences.

Individual Nutrition Counseling:

  • Facilitate personalized nutrition counseling sessions for individuals with unique dietary needs, empowering them to take charge of their health and make informed dietary choices. Offer nutrition education and support to both individuals and groups. Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure that students' dietary requirements are met. Coordinate the preparation of specialized meals, procure pre-packaged foods, or arrange for alternative options when standard menu offerings do not satisfy documented dietary needs. Work alongside student accessibility services and health services to ensure proper registration and documentation for meal plan adjustments and accommodations. Conduct tours for students and parents to familiarize them with dining options that cater to specific dietary conditions and restrictions. Adhere to confidentiality guidelines throughout the nutrition counseling process.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in food science, culinary arts, clinical nutrition, or a related field from a U.S. regionally-accredited institution. Active registration as a Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association. A minimum of two years of experience in nutritional counseling, food service, or hospitality is preferred.
