Position Overview

U.S. Bank is in search of a dedicated and experienced Public Policy Director to spearhead our Public Policy team. This role involves overseeing the company's involvement in significant financial services policy matters. The Public Policy Director will cultivate relationships with key regulatory bodies, government officials, trade associations, and other influential stakeholders.

This position demands a proactive approach to identifying and addressing reputational and regulatory challenges at the federal level. You will lead a team of professionals and engage directly with various business units on critical issues impacting U.S. Bank's interests. As a pivotal member of our government affairs team, the Public Policy Director will significantly influence policy development, advocate for the bank's interests, and further our strategic goals at the federal level. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background and passion for financial services issues.

The Public Policy Director will represent U.S. Bank on various trade association boards and public policy committees, ensuring robust relationships with stakeholders. Acting as a trusted advisor to U.S. Bank leadership, you will prepare them for discussions on public policy matters on behalf of the company. You will also nurture U.S. Bank's leadership role in trade associations while keeping senior management informed of key developments through regular updates, reports, and presentations. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing and executing our engagement strategy.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in financial services policy, regulatory policy, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in government, financial services, or a comparable field.

Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proven experience collaborating with federal officials, particularly in financial regulatory policy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate positions and develop compelling narratives. Proficient in drafting critical communications, including legislative reports and issue briefings.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with federal officials and senior leaders within the organization.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a track record of managing teams and external relationships.
- A collaborative mindset, able to work effectively within a small team to achieve collective objectives.
- Willingness to travel for business purposes and manage travel-related expenses.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the financial services sector and regulatory initiatives.
- An advanced degree in Law, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related discipline is advantageous.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance for three or more days per week, with flexibility for remote work on other days.
