Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Substitute to join our team at Irving Independent School District. As a key member of our school health care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to students in our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the school clinic, including medical care, nursing systems, and communication with parents and staff.
  • Provide individual and group health instruction, including education on health-related concerns and the use of instructional materials.
  • Train, orient, supervise, and coordinate the duties of assistive personnel, including clinic assistants, student nurses, and volunteers.
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of experience in clinical nursing, with five years preferred.
  • Valid Texas Nurse License and certification from the State Health Department for vision, hearing, spinal, and Acanthosis Nigricans (AN) screening.
  • CPR Instructor certification and ability to develop student-specific case management plans for chronic and acute medical conditions.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a school clinical setting and maintain professional communication with faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members.
Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens. Responsibilities may require lifting, stooping, bending, kneeling, and pushing, as well as occasional prolonged working hours.

Professional Growth and Development

Maintain required CEUs for nursing licensure and adhere to the Professional Nursing Code of Ethics, Board of Nursing rules and regulations, and district policies.
