Research Engineer

As a key member of the Pilot Plant Design and Fabrication Section, you will engage in the design, procurement, construction, and operational services for pilot plants, focusing on innovative process development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pilot plant operations for process development, enhancing our technical service offerings.
- Drive increased utilization by assisting with large-scale projects and exploring new business opportunities.
- Lead training initiatives for operations, procurement, and inventory management within the pilot plant environment.
- Educate operators and engineers to ensure the pilot plant functions with a high level of technical proficiency, emphasizing safety culture and compliance with procedures.
Daily Duties:
- Design and optimize processes or unit operations for chemical and refinery systems.
- Conduct research and development in chemical, gas, and petroleum sectors.
- Enhance expertise in areas such as decarbonization, pyrolysis, and biomass conversion.
- Support ongoing projects through data analysis, mass and energy balance calculations, and procedural development.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain laboratory standards.
- Create process simulations and diagrams using commercial software.
- Provide technical guidance to fellow engineers and technicians.
- Engage in proposal writing and contribute to publications.
- Collaborate with vendors and clients to establish equipment setups for new processes.
- Foster new business opportunities through mentorship and training.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required. Candidates should possess:
- Experience or knowledge in biomass conversion, biofuels, carbon capture, and related fields.
- Strong attention to detail in calculations and design.
- Ability to develop process flow diagrams and control strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for client interactions.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Hands-on experience with process development and testing systems is preferred.
A valid driver's license is necessary. Candidates must be U.S. persons due to regulatory requirements.
