The Intelligent Systems Division at Southwest Research Institute is seeking a highly skilled Research Robotics Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced robotics capabilities and solutions for commercial and government clients.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, and implement robotic and automation solutions utilizing mechanical, electrical, and software skills.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to develop and deploy novel automation capabilities.
- Conduct research and development to advance robotics technologies and solutions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote new business and develop technical requirements.
- Assist in preparing proposals and cost estimates.
- Participate in the development of mechanical designs and hardware integration for industrial robots and automation control hardware.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in robotics and automation.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant academic research and/or internship experience for BS candidates.
- Strong software skills, with C++ or Python preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS) is a plus.
- A valid driver's license is required.
