Amentum is looking for a Electrical Maintenance Specialist to support operations in the military range sector. This role involves providing essential technical assistance for the upkeep and operation of military firing ranges. The specialist will engage in various electrical trade tasks, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment that distributes and utilizes electrical energy in alignment with the range's operational goals.

The responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities: installing or repairing diverse electrical apparatus such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission devices; interpreting blueprints, schematics, layouts, or other specifications; diagnosing and resolving issues within electrical systems or equipment; performing calculations related to load requirements for wiring or electrical devices; and utilizing an array of electrician's hand tools along with measuring and testing instruments.

Typically, the role of the electrical maintenance specialist necessitates comprehensive training and experience, often gained through formal apprenticeship or equivalent training. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set and experience in the construction and maintenance sectors. This position involves collaboration within a small team and supports various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, pneumatic systems, painting, HVAC, and welding. The role may also require the operation of forklifts, skid steers, and other machinery. Additional certifications are advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of NEC code is essential.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, manuals, and construction drawings.
  • Execution of all aspects of electrical installations.
  • Diagnosing equipment for electrical issues to avert malfunctions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Accountable for troubleshooting electrical problems, repairing, replacing, and maintaining electrical wiring and circuits on range assets, responding swiftly to equipment failures.
  • Capability to research, learn, and offer innovative technical solutions for providing power and/or controls to unique systems and various power sources.
  • Experience working with voltages up to 480 V.
  • Maintain and repair all indoor/outdoor lighting systems, including associated controls, and manage the electrical distribution system in base facilities.
  • Repair and replace motors, contacts, relays, motor starters, and wiring related to HVAC systems as necessary.
  • Proficient in using tools common to the trade, including electric meters and handheld power tools.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical fixtures.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks required for property repairs.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Install new power/cables and undertake project work for the assigned customer.
  • Prepare estimates, track man hours, materials used, and order items needed for job completion or inventory replenishment according to established procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between Range Operations and Base Operations and Maintenance teams, as well as other Base stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and service standards while complying with current safety and health regulations.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, prioritizing competing demands to ensure timely task execution.
  • Basic decision-making skills; capable of exercising independent judgment.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, including extension ladders, repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Electrical Journeyman License (any state).
  • Must possess active government clearance at the time of application.
