The Operations Specialist at Embassair is responsible for a wide range of tasks that ensure the safe and efficient handling of general aviation aircraft, crew members, and passengers. This role involves operating ground service equipment (GSE) and applying knowledge of company protocols to deliver exceptional service to clients and visitors at the fixed base operation (FBO).
Key Responsibilities:
The Operations Specialist primarily works within the air operations area (AOA) but may also engage in various tasks throughout the FBO.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for various tasks; reach, climb, stoop, kneel, or crawl; and communicate effectively.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Collaborate as part of a team to provide safe and efficient aircraft services while fostering a welcoming environment for customers and guests.
- Arrive at work before scheduled shifts and be prepared at the designated job post promptly. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and security throughout the FBO.
- Work closely with coworkers, clients, vendors, and aircraft crews to meet customer service needs, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Perform aircraft servicing tasks as directed, including fueling, lavatory service, ground power, potable water services, parking, marshalling, catering delivery, and towing.
- Operate and drive various ground service equipment such as fuel trucks, ground power units, tugs, and shuttles.
- Promote and deliver general aviation services to crew members and guests.
- Assist with loading and unloading luggage and cargo to and from aircraft and the FBO.
Conduct fuel quality control operations for the FBO, including:
- Fuel handling, quality control, inventory management, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Deliver professional and friendly customer service while demonstrating a positive attitude and courtesy.
- Understand and enforce all operational, safety, and customer service protocols relevant to the role.
- Wear and encourage the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Comply with all security protocols as mandated by Embassair and airport regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work hours and services performed.
- Follow emergency response procedures during critical events.
- Propose enhancements to Embassair's operational standards and practices to management.
- Ability to read and comprehend company policies, safety procedures, and relevant regulations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively in English across various platforms, including in-person, telephone, and written formats.
- Conduct health, safety, security, and environmental compliance for the FBO.
- Escort and transport crew and passengers to and from aircraft as needed.
- Assist customers with baggage handling when required.
- Recognize frequent customers to provide personalized service.
- Ensure all departing aircraft receive requested services and amenities.
- Create positive first impressions through engaging interactions and unique experiences.
- Anticipate customer needs and ensure all requests are fulfilled.
- Drive vehicles such as cars, golf carts, and vans.
- Proactively identify customer needs and safety concerns.
- Ensure all flight support needs are met prior to customer arrival.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems and software.
- Work collaboratively within a team and follow directions accurately.
- Handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Lift light to moderately heavy items as required.
- Stand for extended periods.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and personal computer usage.
- Excellent vision and coordination for aircraft operations.
- Ability to operate ground support equipment safely.
- Pass background checks and drug tests, and maintain airport security badge eligibility.
- Pass a color vision test for fuel inspection purposes.
- Complete training programs successfully and timely.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to various weather conditions.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Wear the prescribed uniform and insignia.
- Preferred: 6-12 months of experience in aviation, FBO, hospitality, or customer service.
- General aviation experience is a plus.
- Preferred: Fluency in Spanish or French.
