At VCU Health, the Department of Anesthesiology is committed to delivering exceptional anesthesia services and critical care. Our dedicated team, which includes faculty, residents, and nurse anesthetists, is focused on enhancing specialty knowledge and educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive patient care as outlined by the Department Chair.
  • Perform thorough pre-anesthetic evaluations, manage intraoperative anesthesia, oversee postoperative recovery, and conduct intensive care, nerve blocks, and pain management consultations.
  • Supervise the activities of nurse anesthetists as required.
  • Deliver practical clinical training to residents, medical students, and other healthcare learners.
  • Engage in educational initiatives and institutional activities.
  • Promote community service and uphold institutional values.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.).
  • Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology and/or Critical Care.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Strong communication and educational skills.
