Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview
As an integral member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Inpatient Oncology Service, you will be part of a dedicated team within our NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role involves providing care for critically ill patients diagnosed with cancer, including those undergoing advanced treatments such as blood and marrow transplantation, surgical procedures, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. Key Qualifications:
- Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland and certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) are mandatory. Consideration may be given to Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) with relevant oncology nursing experience.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of nursing experience is required, with a preference for oncology experience. Prior NP experience is not mandatory.
- New Graduate Nurse Practitioners are encouraged to apply, provided they submit a letter from the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) approving their practice as a Nurse Practitioner Graduate.
- Active Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licenses are required.
- Enrollment in the Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) is necessary.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accepted provider (AHA or Red Cross) is required.
The Nurse Practitioner will operate within the established guidelines of the department and institution, adhering to the Nurse Practitioner-Physician Written Agreement as mandated by the State of Maryland. Initially, you will function in a Nurse Practitioner Associate capacity until credentialing by the Johns Hopkins Hospital medical board is completed and staff privileges are granted.
