Vice President of Operations

We are seeking a Vice President of Operations for a prestigious museum and educational institution dedicated to inspiring action through historical narratives of resilience, courage, and transformation. This nonprofit organization is committed to delivering impactful learning experiences that resonate deeply and foster change.
The Vice President of Operations will play a crucial role during a significant phase of organizational expansion, collaborating closely with the CEO to shape and implement the strategic vision of the organization.
With comprehensive oversight of financial management, museum operations, security, information technology, facilities, and human resources, the VP of Operations is essential in driving efficiency, innovation, and overall success. The selected candidate will promote a positive workplace culture and act as a strategic partner to the CEO, bringing operational expertise to the executive leadership team.
The position requires in-office presence and reports directly to the CEO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Innovation and Process Enhancement: Propel innovation and refine processes to boost efficiency and streamline workflows across the organization.
Executive Representation: Serve as a representative of the organization both internally and externally, showcasing strong relational and executive presence.
Team Leadership: Foster an optimal environment for a high-performing team to work cohesively and collaboratively. Facilitate collaborative leadership, including the organization of staff meetings, retreats, and social events.
Financial Oversight: Supervise finance committee activities, grant management, cash flow planning, endowment oversight, and budgeting. Ensure effective management of outsourced finance and HR functions.
Integration of People and Processes: Develop and implement systems that enhance collaboration and integration of personnel and workflows throughout the organization.
Governance Leadership: Lead governance and finance committee initiatives, managing all logistical aspects of board and committee meetings, from scheduling to material distribution and follow-up.
Human Resources Management: Implement HR best practices, focusing on talent development, staff evaluations, professional growth, and onboarding processes.
IT Management: Oversee technology systems and lead staff training on various platforms.
Risk Management: Identify and address internal and external risks, utilizing external counsel as needed.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO to design and execute the strategic plan while reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
Museum Operations: Direct strategic planning for museum enhancements, maintenance, and security for events.
Project Management: Serve as the organizational expert in project management, providing support for events, vendor coordination, and logistics.
Development Operations: Assist in managing the development portfolio, utilizing data for revenue forecasting and goal tracking. Support project management for development initiatives, including grant budgeting and reporting.
Collaboration with Building Management: Act as the primary liaison with landlords and key partners regarding operational matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in operations, business development, finance, or a related area.
