The Youth Support and Permanency Specialist is responsible for assisting homeless and former foster youth in achieving stability and long-term success. This role involves providing guidance, support, and case management services for up to 12 months post-discharge, ensuring that youth have access to necessary resources and support systems.
Position Details:
Type: Part-time
Compensation: Starting at $18.00 per hour, with consideration for relevant education and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed service delivery expectations set by funding sources.
- Evaluate youth's readiness for transition and create tailored independent transition plans, monitoring progress regularly.
- Facilitate access to essential resources for stability, including training, counseling, transportation, housing, and employment skills development.
- Conduct monthly in-person case management sessions and maintain weekly communication to assess needs and progress.
- Assist youth in navigating the housing search process and advocate for their needs with landlords.
- Support the moving process and coordinate necessary resources.
- Evaluate client employability and identify barriers to securing and maintaining employment.
- Provide training and volunteer opportunities to enhance job skills and work experience.
- Collaborate with community organizations to offer job skills workshops, including resume writing and interview preparation.
- Help youth develop realistic budgets and connect them with financial assistance resources.
- Establish partnerships with community stakeholders to enhance support for the program and its participants.
- Offer educational support services to assist youth in achieving their educational and vocational goals.
- Ensure compliance with funding requirements and maintain accurate documentation for reporting purposes.
- Work with program staff to coordinate life skills classes focusing on financial literacy and independent living.
- Assess transportation needs and assist clients in obtaining necessary documentation.
- Process requests for financial incentives and special needs efficiently.
- Transport clients to appointments and meetings as required.
- Adhere to the ethical standards and policies of IMPOWER Inc.
- Complete all required training within specified time frames.
- Act as a liaison between youth and employers, providing coaching and mentorship to foster positive relationships.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in client services related to Mental Health or Substance Abuse.
- Familiarity with community resources that promote independence and sustainability.
- Experience in educational or child-related environments is preferred.
- Successful background checks through relevant authorities.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance, with a clean driving record.
- Negative results from a multi-panel drug screening.
