Crisis Response Specialist

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the position of Safety and Security Associate. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our buildings and grounds, while providing exceptional customer service to our tenants, clients, guests, volunteers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol and Respond: Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, responding to calls for service and completing shift paperwork as directed.
- De-escalation and Crisis Intervention: Utilize effective interpersonal skills, trauma-informed care framework, and de-escalation techniques to resolve escalated situations, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
- Physical Intervention: Respond appropriately to physical violence, prioritizing the safety of self and others.
- Crisis Assessment and Intervention: Identify, assess, and understand crisis situations, implementing recovery procedures as needed.
- Client-Centered Service: Provide individualized service, adjusting approaches to meet the unique needs of our diverse population.
- Collaboration and Communication: Partner effectively with program staff, fostering a culture of improvement and innovative thinking.
- Administrative Support: Fill in for breaks or other cross-coverage of housing and emergency services desks, attending shift huddles to stay informed about current issues and needs.
- Incident Response: Act as the point of contact for first responders, following up after incidents and assisting with response to alarms in tenant rooms.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Two years of customer service and security experience required, with one year of shelter/outreach experience preferred.
- Training: CPI de-escalation and self-defense training preferred.
- License and Certification: Valid driver's license and a safe driving record acceptable to Catholic Charities insurance company required.
- Skills: Basic computer skills desired, with the ability to work irregular hours on short notice, including night and holiday shift coverage.
- Cultural Competence: Ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness required.
