Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our prevention team, you will work closely with tenants and landlords to prevent homelessness and preserve tenancies. Your expertise will be essential in providing counseling, referrals, and support to families in need.

Responsibilities
  • Accept referrals from the Prevention Manager and process requests for Prevention Assistance.
  • Enter information into HMIS and ClientTrack within one business day of funding approval.
  • Handle intakes, assessment calls, and callbacks from the prevention phone line in a timely manner.
  • Assist in completing funding requirements and applications for funds.
  • Conduct interviews and assessments leading to program qualifications.
  • Counsel tenants and landlords on their rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide referrals to other social services agencies, if necessary, to assist participants in achieving the goal of zero balance.
  • Collaborate with community partners and other stakeholders to inform people about the programs and to identify potential participants.
  • Follow up with participants as indicated per grant guidelines.
Requirements
  • Pursuing (or already have) a bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field, with at least one year of experience in a social service advocacy position, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience working with people of diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds in homeless or housing settings, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of laws governing rental housing and an understanding and commitment to the 'Housing First' philosophy and Trauma Informed practices.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention and self-directed with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities to reach outcome goals and deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and meeting Solid Ground's driving record requirements.
