Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at our client site in Troy, Ohio. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our occupational health services.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements
  • Ensure compliance with site safety guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Assist with clinical procedures and physical examinations, including pre-placement, DOT, FAA, respiratory evaluations, and fitness for duty
  • Perform diagnostic testing, such as vital signs, EKG, audiogram, pulmonary function test, vision acuity, and respirator fit testing
  • Conduct wellness testing and counseling, including body fat, aerobic capacity assessment, upper body strength, and diet, exercise, and tobacco cessation
  • Perform laboratory duties, such as phlebotomy, urinalysis, cholesterol, and blood glucose testing, and immunization
  • Administer first aid and supervised medical treatment, including suture removal, ear/eye irrigation, and applying splints and dressings as directed by a nurse
  • Calibrate medical equipment at regular intervals
  • Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and clinic
  • Perform front-office work, including ordering and maintaining medical and office supplies
  • Forward invoices and communicate with WorkCare or workers' compensation carriers as needed
  • Assist in managing worker's compensation case management programs

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and skills equivalent to those acquired through an accredited Medical Assistant education program, including basic knowledge of medical terminology and reporting
  • Occupational health experience preferred; high school diploma, GED, or equivalent acceptable with at least 2 years of directly applicable experience
  • Certification to perform supportive medical services, such as administering medication, audiogram, spirometry, and applying and removing bandages
  • Certification in phlebotomy preferred
  • Ability to obtain HIPAA certification upon hire
  • Excellent patient relations skills, including maintaining confidentiality and effective communication
  • Proficiency with computers using the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of self-motivation and enthusiasm
  • Valid Ohio driver's license
  • Maintain CMA and BLS certification requirements

Work Environment

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with flexibility to cover either the 2nd or 3rd shifts.
