Job Title: Concealed Handgun Permit Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Concealed Handgun Permit Specialist to join our team at the Nebraska State Patrol. As a Concealed Handgun Permit Specialist, you will play a critical role in processing initial and renewal concealed handgun permit applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process concealed handgun permit applications and renewals, ensuring compliance with state regulations and laws.
  • Review criminal history record information for potential disqualifiers and correspond with applicants and various criminal justice agencies.
  • Issue permits and refunds as appropriate, utilizing analytical skills to research, interpret, and apply laws and regulations.
  • Assist with incoming phone calls from the public, providing excellent customer service and de-escalation skills.
Requirements:
  • Coursework or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the Nebraska State Patrol.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice databases and research experience, with application of law.
  • Ability to perform basic to intermediate computer functions, communicate effectively in person and via telephone, email, and in writing.
  • Customer service and de-escalation skills, with analytical skills and attention to detail.
