Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with estimators and project management teams to develop estimates, review project plans and specifications, and solicit subcontractor bids.
  • Lead the estimating team in the execution of the estimate deliverable process, ensuring timely roll-out and execution.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and develop full-scope estimates.
  • Critically evaluate bid documents to understand risk and opportunities, and articulate those to management.
  • Organize the bid team, providing leadership and direction on means and methods, schedule, and strategy.
  • Participate in technical proposals for Alternative Delivery projects.
  • Create detailed crew and production cost estimates, and review prices with the estimating team.
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing input when required.
  • Attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as needed.
  • Develop unit costs accurately and perform technical/plan review when required.
  • Assess and plan takeoff workload, and gather and monitor actual cost vs. estimated cost.
  • Manage and maintain subcontractor database and subcontractor prequalification.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a construction estimator.
  • Good understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
  • Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.
  • Comfortable with numbers and technology.
  • Exceptional knowledge of bid software.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Well-organized.
