Job Summary

The Area Construction Manager is a key role in our organization, responsible for supervising Construction Managers and overseeing all construction activities for assigned areas. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of construction processes and municipal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct all aspects of construction for assigned communities
  • Monitor productivity and quality-related activities, mentoring and training construction teams to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Develop and ensure adherence to community budgets and validate costs for assigned communities
  • Review architectural designs and construction drawings to ensure compliance with local, state, and national building codes, life safety codes, ADA regulations, and zoning regulations
  • Manage quality control processes according to safety and SWPPP program and policies
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Resource Planning, Sales, Product Development, Process Improvement/Warranty, and Land personnel to achieve primary responsibilities
  • Ensure job site cleanliness and safety
  • Oversee and resolve escalated issues/conflicts related to daily construction activities
Management Responsibilities
  • Mentor/coach/feedback with direct reports
  • Ensure appropriate staffing to meet department and productivity needs
  • Delegates work according to employee's abilities and skills
  • Evaluates employee's performance and plans for compensation actions in accordance with that performance
  • Provides developmental opportunities through identification of internal and external training opportunities
  • Creates opportunities for employee growth through development plans
  • Supervise all Construction Managers and Senior Construction Managers in assigned communities
Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years construction experience or equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years as Construction Manager or equivalent
  • Ability to manage all construction processes in a high production environment
  • Ability to manage trade performance
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Strong ability to read blueprints
  • Strong knowledge of municipal permitting and regulations
  • Strong knowledge of building codes
  • Strong knowledge of construction-related scheduling software
  • Good application of Excel, PPT, and Word and ability to lead presentation
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and experience
  • Ability to control cost overruns and manage a budget
