The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various departments to ensure project feasibility and enhance cost-effectiveness while upholding high-quality standards.



Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation:

Review project specifications, drawings, and related documents to create detailed cost estimates for wire harness assemblies, encompassing material costs, labor, tooling, and overhead.


Material Sourcing:

Identify and procure suitable materials for wire harness projects, ensuring adherence to customer specifications and industry standards. Collaborate with the procurement team to secure accurate pricing for materials.


Labor Assessment:

Evaluate the labor needs for each project, including assembly, testing, and quality assurance, to establish precise labor costs and production timelines.


RFQ Management:

Analyze and interpret customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to create accurate and competitive quotes that satisfy customer requirements while ensuring company profitability.


Interdepartmental Collaboration:

Work alongside engineering and production teams to guarantee that estimates reflect viable production methods and that potential challenges are identified and addressed during the quoting process.


Cost Efficiency:

Examine the cost-effectiveness of various manufacturing processes and propose alternatives to minimize costs without sacrificing quality.


Pricing Development:

Formulate pricing strategies that align with the company's financial objectives and market positioning, ensuring all quotes remain competitive while achieving desired profit margins.


Documentation Maintenance:

Keep thorough records of all estimates, including assumptions, material lists, labor calculations, and final quotes for future reference and auditing purposes.


Client Communication:

Engage with clients to clarify project requirements, address inquiries regarding estimates, and negotiate terms as necessary.


Process Improvement:

Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the estimating process, providing management with feedback on potential areas for improvement.



Qualifications

Previous experience as an estimator or in a similar capacity.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost estimation within the wire harness manufacturing sector or a comparable manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of wire harness manufacturing processes, materials, and industry standards.

Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical documents and produce accurate cost estimates.

Strong negotiation skills to manage client expectations and secure profitable contracts.

Proficiency in contemporary estimating software and technology platforms to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimation.

Experience in compiling estimates by gathering drawings, BOMs, specification sheets, and other project-related documents.

Ability to provide accurate and timely updates of project files within the ERP system, reflecting any changes or adjustments to estimates.

Experience in overseeing projects from the quoting stage through to production and delivery.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

Familiarity with estimating software and tools commonly used in the industry.

Preferred background or previous experience in Engineering, particularly in Mechanical Engineering.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application in cost estimation.
