Position Summary:

The Clinical Education Program Coordinator for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is tasked with the strategic planning, organization, facilitation, administration, and oversight of clinical education activities associated with the PTA program at Mount Wachusett Community College. This role acts as a vital link between the PTA program and various clinical education sites, ensuring effective collaboration with both academic and clinical faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate communication between Mount Wachusett Community College and affiliated clinical sites, including Center Coordinators of Clinical Education (CCCE), Clinical Instructors (CI), and students regarding policies, compliance with clinical site requirements, contract negotiations, dissemination of program information, coordination of student placements, and development of clinical faculty.
  • Engage with all stakeholders before, during, and after clinical experiences, ensuring thorough evaluation of clinical education sites.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and assessment of the Clinical Education Program, incorporating feedback from academic faculty and advisory boards.
  • Monitor and document student academic performance, assign final grades for clinical education courses, and assess readiness for clinical placements.
  • Develop and implement remedial experiences as needed, collaborating with faculty and program leadership.
  • Participate in advisory board meetings and relevant clinical education forums to promote professional development.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including maintaining a comprehensive database of clinical sites and faculty, and tracking the status of clinical agreements.
  • Report on student performance and the effectiveness of clinical sites and faculty in the context of clinical education.
  • Ensure the development of clinical sites to maintain a diverse and adequate number of clinical education opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing development for clinical faculty to ensure high-quality instruction for PTA students.
Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited PTA or PT program.
  • Possession of a current Massachusetts license as a PT or PTA.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of experience as a clinical instructor or CCCE.
  • Active engagement in clinical practice, particularly in relation to clinical education.
  • Involvement in professional activities at local, state, or national levels.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating efforts with colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel to local clinical facilities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Proficiency in information and computer technology, including word processing and database management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
  • Credentialed status as an APTA Clinical Instructor.

Additional Information:

Compensation: $32.64-$42.84 per hour based on experience.
