Role Summary
Under the guidance of the Manager, the Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services within the designated section. This role involves collaboration with Pathologists and physician-specialists to facilitate the assessment, development, and implementation of laboratory technologies and testing, while overseeing daily operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Section Coordination: Review and verify the accuracy of results and quality control records, coordinating corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Participate in the planning and maintenance of the laboratory information system.
- Investigate and resolve technical and workflow issues within the area of responsibility.
- Foster relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure service standards are met.
Staff Management:
Assist in the recruitment and selection of new team members, coordinating staffing to ensure adequate coverage for all service aspects. Evaluate staffing needs and approve overtime as required, while overseeing staff training and competency documentation.
Technical Oversight:
Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, performing complex testing as needed. Coordinate the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring service records are maintained.
Financial Management:
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, ensuring accurate billing for services and compliance with financial regulations.
Professional Development:
Engage in personal development activities that align with professional goals, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
Leadership and Problem Solving:
Promote effective communication and visibility within the organization, addressing critical situations involving patients and staff with appropriate guidance.
Collaboration with Medical Staff:
Work alongside Medical Directors to implement departmental goals and resolve operational issues, supporting clinical quality management initiatives.
