strongAbout the Opportunity/strongbrbrThe University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Certified Nurse Anesthetist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary health team, you will provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients.brbr**Responsibilities:**brbr* Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and document results.br* Assess patients' medical histories to predict anesthesia response.br* Develop anesthesia care plans.br* Select, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications, anesthetics, drugs, fluids or blood products as necessary.br* Prepare prescribed solutions and administer local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.br* Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.br* Perform or evaluate the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs).br* Select and prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments to patients.br* Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular systems.br* Monitor and evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur.br* Discharge patients to hospital floor or Surgicenter as necessary.br* Instruct nurses, residents, interns, students or other staff on topics such as anesthetic techniques, pain management and emergency responses.brbr**Requirements:**brbr* Graduation from an accredited CRNA program with Masters of Science in Nursing Degree or Doctorate of Nurse Practice.br* Current licenses as a Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Illinois required.br* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.br* Current National Certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).br* Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between physician, APRN and PA providers as well as college and hospital leadership and the multi-disciplinary team.br* Demonstrated experience in leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, interpersonal communication, education, clinical experience and change management required.brbr**About the University of Illinois Chicago**brbrThe University of Illinois Chicago is a Carnegie RU/VH research institution and the largest university in Chicago.
