Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electronic Security Systems Technician to join our team at Bexar County, TX. As a key member of our facilities management department, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic security systems, as well as installing computer workstations and troubleshooting computer hardware and software problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain electronic security systems, including electro-mechanical door locks, cell control modules, and electronic wiring
  • Install and relocate computer workstations, terminals, monitors, and printers
  • Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, software, and audio equipment
  • Design, install, and test modifications or replacements to various security systems
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain audio/visual equipment and broadcast equipment
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited electronic technical or vocational school, and two (2) years' experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic security systems
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of basic electronics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems
  • Skill in the operation of various hand tools and electronic testing equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, appointed and elected officials, and outside organizations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
  • Must be able and willing to attend training at department's discretion
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Working conditions are primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure
  • Required to work in jail environment
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as damp/wet surfaces, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
