Role Overview:

Under the supervision of the HVAC Supervisor, the HVAC Lead operates at a skilled level to install, repair, and maintain refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems.
  • Identifies and rectifies defective components through repair, adjustment, or replacement.
  • Installs new and replacement air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Verifies the operational efficiency of newly installed equipment.
  • Assists in planning scheduled maintenance and procuring necessary materials.
Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in the repair and maintenance of refrigeration and heating systems.
  • Universal EPA certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of vocational or technical training.
  • Experience with computerized control systems related to HVAC.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration and heating/cooling systems.
  • Proficient in the tools and techniques used for equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with PCs and related computerized control systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair issues in compressors and heating systems.
  • Capability to operate a university vehicle to various work sites.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor.
  • Capacity to work independently in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints for electrical, piping, and duct systems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
