Mechanical Systems Engineer Opportunity at Harvard University
As a key member of the Facilities Engineering team, the Mechanical Systems Engineer will report directly to the Facilities Engineering Manager and play a crucial role in providing technical expertise for campus MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems. This position is essential in supporting the maintenance team with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to complex mechanical systems.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations of failures in building mechanical systems to determine root causes and propose effective repair solutions.
  • Assess existing MEP systems and suggest enhancements to improve reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Identify risks associated with critical building systems and formulate strategies for mitigation.
  • Design and implement MEP testing protocols and standard operating procedures for internal stakeholders.
  • Engage in the turnover and commissioning processes for newly installed mechanical systems.
  • Review and recommend alternatives for obsolete components, as well as identify essential spare parts.
  • Assist in reliability assessments and provide technical guidance during both scheduled and unscheduled utility system outages.
  • Address inquiries and concerns from stakeholders regarding daily operational matters.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
