Great Plains Manufacturing is on the lookout for a dedicated Sustainability Engineer to enhance our Environmental and Sustainability Team. This role involves collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers and the Environmental and Sustainability team to support our diverse production teams and Research and Development facilities.
This position typically operates Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and reports directly to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager. Some travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist manufacturing sites in achieving regulatory compliance, interpreting air regulations, and addressing related topics.
- Support capital projects with air permitting assistance, regulatory applicability assessments, and guidance on selecting air pollution control technologies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and presentations on environmental performance, emissions calculations, and sustainability initiatives, including annual Air Emission Inventory and TRI reports.
- Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to maintain a high level of expertise.
- Provide technical expertise and support for Sustainability initiatives and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Initiate and support efforts to reduce our Carbon Footprint, minimize Waste to Landfill, and promote Recycling/Reuse of Materials.
- Ensure compliance with NPDES regulations and reporting.
- Adhere to federal and state environmental regulations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Follow all safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned that require specific qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment considerations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or Engineering Technology; five years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with Federal and State environmental laws and regulations.
- Experience with ISO Environmental Management Systems is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to quickly identify and resolve complex issues.
