Role Summary:

The Center for Alternative is seeking an Outreach & Engagement Specialist to join our dedicated team. This position plays a crucial role in fostering connections with diverse communities, organizations, and stakeholders. The primary goal is to advocate for our mission, promote our programs, and enhance collaborations that align with our objectives.

Our initiatives significantly impact the lives of numerous individuals by facilitating their transition from pretrial detention to community-based support systems. The Outreach & Engagement Specialist will empower participants from various backgrounds, including youth, young adults, and those facing challenges such as substance use and homelessness, to harness their strengths and pursue positive changes while complying with legal requirements.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000 annually.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time role, operating Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Work Environment: Hybrid model available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support supervision and case management efforts by collaborating with clinical coordinators and case managers, providing services in community settings such as homes, shelters, and local venues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with individuals at risk of disengagement, working with community members to address both formal and informal needs.
  • Conduct outreach to identify participants and establish trust, encouraging compliance with supervision conditions.
  • Respond to requests from Case Coordinators for community outreach visits to assist participants who have missed appointments.
  • Act as a liaison between high-risk participants and supervision staff, fostering trust and addressing participants' needs.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to assist participants in managing their engagement and compliance with appointments and court dates.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the neighborhoods where participants reside, engaging with both formal and informal community resources.
  • Advocate for participants, providing direct support while navigating social services.
  • Participate in team meetings and case analysis to enhance skills in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and outreach techniques.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in community outreach, particularly with individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Individuals with lived experience in the criminal legal system are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to work in various neighborhoods and outdoor settings, regardless of weather conditions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred.
