Position Overview:

CDM Smith is seeking a seasoned Project Manager with a strong background in managing Water and Wastewater initiatives to enhance our West Central division.

In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison for the planning and design of drinking water, wastewater treatment, biosolids, pump stations, conveyance, and water resource projects in the greater Austin area, while also supporting business development efforts.

With over 30 years of service in the Austin market, CDM Smith has built a reputation for excellence in water resources, modeling, master planning studies, and the design and construction administration of various water-related facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage significant Austin Water & Wastewater projects.
  • Provide technical expertise, senior leadership, and mentorship to engineering personnel to bolster our water services design capabilities.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget development, ensuring adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control for critical deliverables and support projects managed by other team members.
  • Collaborate with Client Service Leaders to engage in technical marketing and client meetings in the Austin region.
  • Participate in relevant professional organizations.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders in client organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • PMP (PMI), CCM, or DBIA certification is required (to be obtained within 12 months of hire or promotion).
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be necessary, depending on project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Experience managing projects for municipal water resources, wastewater, and drinking water clients.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Strong communication, networking, and team-building skills.
  • Experience working directly with clients.
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience managing projects for municipal clients in the greater Austin area.
  • Business development experience, including proposal preparation and cost estimation for municipal clients.
