Position Overview:
The Senior Project Planning Manager will provide strategic oversight and expertise in the planning and execution of various capital projects. This role requires a seasoned professional with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in project planning, ideally within an educational or institutional context. The successful candidate will be instrumental in guiding project teams and ensuring alignment with our institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage comprehensive project planning and feasibility assessments to establish project scope, timelines, and budgets for multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Facilitate client interactions during the programming and conceptual design stages of projects.
  • Interpret and implement planning standards, policies, and applicable regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify key issues, develop prioritization criteria, and propose actionable strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental teams to manage planning projects effectively.
  • Monitor and address community development and regional planning issues that may impact project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure projects are holistically planned and executed.
  • Integrate campus objectives into the broader Master Plan development.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in educational space design and planning.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff to enhance knowledge in planning and project management.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.


Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Expertise in planning, architecture, engineering, and construction management.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in budget development and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of regulations concerning accessibility and hazardous materials.
  • Familiarity with laws governing design, construction, and operational standards.


Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in project and program planning for capital projects.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Eight years of experience in project planning.
  • A Master's degree in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, CEFP, CCM).


Work Environment:
  • This position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to various project sites.
  • Physical demands may include standing, walking, and navigating job sites.


Compensation:
Salary range commensurate with experience.
