Commercial Property Bookkeeper Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Commercial Property Bookkeeper to join our team. This full-time position will involve various accounting tasks within our property management portfolio to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for our clients.
The ideal candidate will be located in the Knoxville, TN area and be able to work on-site.
Responsibilities- Perform regular bank reconciliations, verifying payments received and cleared checks.
- Reclassify items on the general ledger as necessary.
- Maintain and ensure the accurate use of the GL chart of accounts for each property.
- Oversee the weekly accounts payable workflow and provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews as requested.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, bank partners, and vendors, assisting with their requests.
- Record month-end journal entries as needed.
- Respond promptly to all internal and external communications.
- Prepare and review monthly financial reports, resolving any discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
- Conduct annual reconciliations of recoverable charges.
- Ensure fiduciary responsibilities are upheld for all properties.
- Prepare and submit 1099s in accordance with IRS deadlines.
- Prepare and distribute monthly management and maintenance invoices for each property.
- Oversee the tenant chargeback process for any tenant-paid expenses.
- Review aged receivables monthly and follow up on delinquent balances.
- Maintain records and track property tax payments.
- Attend department and company meetings.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Appfolio or Bill.com is a plus but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; experience in property or facilities management accounting is a plus.
