Position Overview:
We are in search of a Staff Accountant - Accounting Operations.

The primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include daily reconciliation of cash and clearing accounts, along with the preparation and review of daily general ledger entries.

This role also involves assisting with various tasks related to the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and reporting. The Staff Accountant will provide necessary documentation and support to both internal and external auditors as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily and monthly cash account reconciliations.

Specific tasks involve recording daily cash entries in the general ledger and reconciling selected cash and cash clearing accounts.

Prepare journal entries for various activities for the Bank, including but not limited to prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and professional services.

This includes various quarterly journal entries.

Participate actively in the monthly and quarterly closing processes, which encompass general ledger and subledger analysis, journal entries, reconciliations, and Flux Analysis compilation, as well as addressing Flux variances for selected accounts.

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data for designated accounts.
Assist with the manual journal entry process from other departments on a daily/monthly basis.

Manage fixed assets activities for the Bank, including entering purchases into the Asset Management module of SmartStream, validating GL entries, reconciling fixed assets to the GL monthly, and preparing quarterly and annual fixed asset reports.

Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate journal entries, reconciliations, and Flux analysis, providing accounting details and information to auditors as needed.
Identify opportunities for process enhancements and assist in implementing changes to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Maintain standard operating procedures and ensure adherence to all SOX requirements for full compliance.
Serve as the primary backup for Debt & Investment Accounting responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will reside within a reasonable commuting distance from our office in Austin, Texas, and value the benefits of a hybrid work schedule while recognizing the need for regular onsite collaboration.

This role encompasses a variety of essential skills.

Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with three (3) or more years of relevant experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential. Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills are required. A comprehensive understanding of accounting principles related to general ledger and reconciliation functions is necessary. Proficiency in Excel and word processing applications, including knowledge of pivot tables, is required.
