The Practical Nursing Specialist operates under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) within a clinical environment, adhering to the regulations set forth by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN exhibits professional and clinical expertise pertinent to the assigned clinical practice area in delivering direct patient care, conforming to the verified competency standards established by the specific program.
This role involves collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team, effectively communicating with other licensed independent practitioners (Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants) while providing comprehensive care and treatment for patients. The LPN also offers clinical support and education for patients and their families, ensuring compliance with the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice.
Maintaining all relevant certifications and licenses is essential. The LPN is responsible for managing their workload with precision, delivering exceptional customer service, conducting tests, administering medications, and executing nursing interventions and care plans to promote a holistic approach to patient care. Acting as a patient advocate, the LPN plays a crucial role in the prevention of illness and disease.
Specialty Requirements
- Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training required shortly after hire.
- Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training required within a specified timeframe after hire.
- BLS certification is necessary within a designated period after hire.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Nursing (Required), Trade School Graduate in Nursing (Required), Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Single State Nursing License.
